Alona Beach is the most visited beach on Panglao Island and is often the first place travelers experience the island’s marine life. The beach is famous for its white sand, resorts, restaurants, and dive centers.

Snorkeling here can be rewarding, but conditions depend on the tide. During low tide, it can be difficult to cross the rocky section near shore. Medium to high tide is usually the best time to enter the water.

The reefs around Balicasag are very healthy and full of life. Snorkelers can expect to see colorful coral gardens, large schools of tropical fish, and often multiple sea turtles grazing on the reef. Turtle sightings are extremely common here, making it one of the highlights of many Panglao island hopping trips.

Unlike the other snorkeling spots on Panglao, Balicasag is only accessible by boat trips, which makes visiting more expensive compared to shore snorkeling locations, and it's usually bundled in a tour package. Because of its popularity, Balicasag can also become quite busy. On a typical day, hundreds of snorkelers visit the island, especially during peak travel seasons.
