Panglao Instructor Development Course - What you'll learn in your IDC
The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is all about building your skills as a dive educator. It’s a focused and practical program designed to help you transition from an experienced diver or divemaster to a capable instructor. You’ll learn how to teach effectively—both in the classroom and in the water—using proven methods and real-life scenarios.
Throughout the course, we focus on clarity, structure, and professional communication. You'll practice giving briefings, running skill sessions, and managing students, all with direct feedback and support from our experienced team. The goal is simple: to help you grow into a confident, well-rounded dive instructor, ready to start teaching with skill and purpose.
Academic Presentations - Learn how to Teach a Class:
Develop your skills as a confident and effective educator. You’ll learn how to structure academic sessions following the SDI format, deliver clear and engaging presentations, and explain dive theory in a way that makes sense to students. With guidance from your instructors, you’ll practice teaching real topics and receive personal feedback to help you improve every step of the way.
Underwater Skills - Teaching Students how to Dive:
Learn how to demonstrate skills clearly, manage students underwater, and create a safe, supportive learning environment. You’ll practice teaching essential scuba skills in confined and open water, while developing the awareness and control needed to handle real student behavior. It’s about more than just performing the skills—it’s about showing others how to learn them.
Diving for the First Time – Briefing and Guiding Students:
Learn how to introduce beginners to the underwater world with confidence and care. You’ll practice giving thorough, easy-to-understand briefings and guiding first-time divers safely through their experience. The focus is on clear communication, building trust, and managing student comfort every step of the way.
Structuring a Course – Intern with Us for Real-Life Experience (Optional):
Discover what it takes to plan and deliver a complete open water course from start to finish. Through your internship, you’ll shadow experienced instructors, assist in real classes, and learn how to structure lessons that flow smoothly and meet training standards.
